USCIS lengthens TN admissions to three years

On October 16, 2008 a new rule became effective that would lengthen TN admissions from one year to three years. This rule makes the TN category a more workable alternative to the H-1B and L categories. At present, TNs are available to workers from Mexico and Canada who have job offers in the United States in one of approximately sixty professional categories. In order to obtain a three year TN, it is important that the support letter (and I-129 if application is made through the Service Center) explicitly request a three year validity period.
