Both H-1B caps exceeded in first week

Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that it received approximately 163,000 petitions in the five-day filing period beginning April 1, 2008. Of these more than 31,000 were Master's Cap cases. CIS will hold a lottery to select approximately 21,000 of the Master's Cap cases. Then, the "losers" will be included in a second lottery to select the cases that will be accepted under the regular cap. There are a total of 65,000 cases approved under the regular cap.
