Bruce Allen
is a cum laude graduate of Harvard University and a magna cum laude
graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he won the Alumni
Award for ranking first in his class of over three hundred students.
He has been engaged in the practice of law for more than twenty
years. He is a member in good standing of the bars of the U.S.
states of Ohio and Massachusetts, the Supreme Court of the United
States, and the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society in Canada. He is a
member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and
the Immigration Section of the Canadian Bar Association. Bruce began
his legal career as a staff attorney for the Federal Trade
Commission in the United States. He established his own law firm in
1983. In addition to immigration law, his practice has included
extensive litigation experience in the state and federal courts,
including several precedent-setting cases in the areas of civil
rights and employment discrimination. Although he was raised and
educated in the United States, Bruce has strong family ties to Nova
Scotia, Canada, which he has maintained throughout his life. This
has made possible the expansion of Allen & Hodgman from a U.S.
based law firm to a Canadian and U.S. law firm. An avid swimmer,
biker and runner, Bruce has competed in more than seventy-five
triathlons over the last fifteen years.

Both Bruce Allen and Blair Hodgman are fully licensed and
qualified to practice both U.S. and Canadian immigration law. At the
present time, their practice consists exclusively of immigration law. There are
at most a few dozen
lawyers in the world with these qualifications. Bruce and Blair have
a unique ability to counsel clients from around the world who are
considering working and living in the United States or Canada.
We are members of the American Immigration Lawyers
Association (AILA), the foremost
professional organization of American Immigration Lawyers. We are
the only U.S.-licensed AILA members in Atlantic Canada.
