is the managing partner of our U.S. office. He is a cum laude graduate of Harvard University and a magna cum laude
graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he won the Alumni
Award for ranking first in his class.
He is a member in good standing of the bars of the U.S.
states of Ohio and Massachusetts, the Supreme Court of the United
States, and the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society in Canada. He is a
member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), and
the Immigration Section of the Canadian Bar Association. Bruce began
his legal career as a staff attorney for the Federal Trade
Commission in the United States. He established his own law firm in
1983. In addition to immigration law, his practice has included
extensive litigation experience in the state and federal courts,
including several precedent-setting cases in the areas of civil
rights and employment discrimination. An avid swimmer,
biker and runner, Bruce has competed in more than one hundred
triathlons over the last twenty years, and is currently ranked
number one in the United States by USA Triathlon in his age group in
the sport of Aquabike (combined swimming and running).
Blair Hodgman is the managing partner of our Canadian office.
She is a cum laude graduate of Tufts University and a
cum laude graduate of Boston University School of Law. She is a member of
the Ohio and Massachusetts bars, the bar of the Supreme Court of the
United States, and the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. She has
served as Chair of the provincial Immigration Section of
the Canadian Bar Association. Blair has served as a panel presenter
at many CBA conferences, and is a well known spokesperson on
citizenship issues in Atlanta Canada. She is also a member of AILA. Blair
began her career as an associate at Jones Day Reavis and Pogue, one of
the largest law firms in the world. She joined Bruce Allen to
establish Allen & Hodgman in 1983. Her career includes extensive
litigation experience in both civil and criminal law. Blair is an
active runner, and has won many first place prizes.
Both Bruce Allen and Blair Hodgman are fully licensed and
qualified to practice both U.S. and Canadian immigration law. At the
present time, their practice consists exclusively of immigration law. There are
at most a few dozen
lawyers in the world with these qualifications. Bruce and Blair have
a unique ability to counsel clients from around the world who are
considering working and living in the United States or Canada.
